In Asgard, Odin sits on his broken throne, ruling over the remains of his kingdom, when he is attacked by Dark Elves who appear to have killed him. In Newark Harbor, Thor is on his boat when Loki crashes in and tries to warn him of Malekith's attack, but apparently Dark Elves have followed him. Thor drives them off, then leaves with Loki to go attack Malekith, missing Thori's warning that something is wrong and that that wasn't Loki. Thor and Loki arrive in Jotunheim and Thor realizes it's a trap, and "Loki" reveals himself to really be Malekith, and he's ambushed by an army of Frost Giants. Back in New York, Spider-Man is swinging by when his Spider-Sense warns him that trouble is brewing. On a nearby rooftop, Dark Elves have attacked Freyja when Spidey steps in to help. Sif, Jane and Hildegarde reach the roof and Freyja brings them all up to speed on the attack. Across New York, the attack is being felt and sensed as the War of the Realms has begun. The Black Bifrost opens and Fire Demons, Frost Giants, Rock Trolls and others pour out and begin attacking everything in sight. The Avengers and others rally and begin to try and fight back. When Laufey grabs Freyja, she is rescued by Loki. He tells his mother that he's sorry for what he felt he had to do, when he is grabbed by his father Laufey, who then eats him. Back in Jotunheim, Thor has begun killing all the Frost Giants sent against him, but there's always more Giants.
