Synopsis for "Young Thor's Lament"

In Asgard, Odin is punishing some Dark Elves for having dared to attack Asgard, but when he turns to talk to Thor, he finds Thor missing. On Midgard, Thor is drinking with the vikings of Ulfar the Bloodbeard when Odin's ravens fly in and carry Thor off to face Odin. Odin is furious when Thor turns his back on him, and Loki appears with a plan to make Thor forsake Midgard forever. Odin agrees, and Loki causes Thor to crash to the ground in the midst of a battle between Erika the Red and vikings following Harald Jaekelsson. She's bloody and vicious and Thor is instantly smitten, but she's not impressed. When a Rock Troll arrives and Thor handles it, she begins to see his appeal. They become lovers and have numerous adventures and battles, with Thor spending even more time on Midgard. Odin is furious because Loki's plan is failing, but there's one more step. Causing a war between the Dark Elves and the Dwarves, Loki causes Thor to be drawn away into the conflict, but he is gone for 40 years, which is nothing to him, but everything to Erika. Thor returns to Midgard to find that she grew old and died waiting for his return. Crushed, Thor stays on Midgard to the consternation of Odin, regaling other clans of the tales of Erika the Red.
