Synopsis for "The Ballad of Cul Borson, God of Fear"

Cul was sent to Svartalfheim by Odin to learn the secrets of Malekith's war. After being there for weeks, he learns that the Black Bifrost is powered my special mushrooms harvested from a nearby mine. During his weeks there, he reminisces about his history with his little brother, his family and all he's done over his long life. In the mine, he finds Dark Elf children being used as slaves because they weren't nasty enough like the other Dark Elves. Cul goes to leave them, but has second thoughts and frees them instead, giving them time to escape. Receiving multiple fatal wounds, with his last act, he attacks a cart full of the mushrooms, causing a massive explosion, destroying the mine and killing himself. Later, when Freyja is making her stand at the Black Bifrost, the children that Cul had freed attack the Dark Elves from behind, with the cry "In the name of Cul!"

Weeks ago, All-Father Odin sent his brother Cul — the Serpent, the God of Fear, Thor’s backstabbing uncle — into the depths of Malekith’s home realm, Svartalfheim. There lies the Black Bifrost, Malekith’s own corrupted Rainbow Bridge. Cul’s mission is to gather intelligence on the Bifrost, and if he can, destroy it. But will Cul redeem himself at last? Or has the All-Father made another critical mistake in this War of the Realms?
