Synopsis for "The Gospel According to Jane"
In flashback, we see a young Jane by the bedside of her mother, who apparently also died from cancer. Her mom tells her that she wishes she had instilled a sense of faith in her, and wants her to find some higher power to believe in. Now, Jane is dying from cancer, and she never did find one. In Asgardia, the Odinson and Odin are trying to fight off the Mangog, but he is destroying everything in sight. In another flashback, we see Don Blake tell Jane that her father has died from a heart attack, and that she has no family left. In the present, Doctor Strange, Roz and Sam Wilson are visiting her, and she tells them that they should go because she hates seeing them trapped there with her. Outside her door, Thori is protecting her from the maintenance man who happens to be holding a hammer. Back in Asgardia, Freyja is looking through the weapons vault trying to come up with something to stop Mangog, when Loki arrives. She slaps him and confronts him with all that he has done. He tries to justify it by saying that he only tried to remove her from the board so that Malekith would not actually kill her, but she isn't buying it. He tells her that nothing can stop the Mangog, and then leaves. Elsewhere, Mangog destroys the controls that steer Asgardia, and sends in careening towards the Sun. In another flashback, Jane is standing outside Saint Mark's after learning that her ex-husband Keith and her son Jimmy were both killed in a car accident. Thor arrives after learning and she slaps him demanding to know where he was, where were any of the heroes that have infested her life when she needed them. Back in the present, Jane visits another cancer patient Bonnie, who asks Jane to pray with her. Later, Jane overhears Roz talking to someone about something being wrong on Asgardia, and they tell her that it is not out by Saturn anymore, it has just passed Mars and is heading towards the Sun. Heading back to her room, Mjolnir is outside her window, and she realizes she really doesn't have a choice. Thori asks her why she has murdered herself as she changes to Thor and goes to Asgardia to confront Mangog.
