Synopsis for "To Face the Phoenix"
Thor and Quentin Quire face off against the Phoenix, when Jane finds herself in the White Hot Room. The Phoenix wants to make a deal, trade Mjolnir for sparing everyone, which makes Jane realize that the Phoenix fears Mjolnir and the Mother Storm inside it. She also realizes that the conversation is taking place in her head, and that she still has Mjolnir in her hand and smashes the Phoenix with it. She then asks Mjolnir to give her everything its got, giving Quentin the opening he needs to enter the White Hot Room himself. There, he offers the Phoenix a deal himself. The Phoenix starts to fight back when the Odinson arrives, and they both push the Phoenix back, until Quentin reappears, seemingly the new avatar of the Phoenix. In Omnipotence City, Thor delivers Sharra and K'ythri into custody of Shadrak, who tells her that they will spend a few thousand years in prison, but that's all. In Asgardia, the Asgardians and the Shi'ar (Race) celebrate their surviving the Phoenix, with Kid Gladiator hitting on Sif and Hildegarde hitting on the Destroyer. In the Congress of Worlds, Cul demands that Jane step down as representative of Midgard, and she agrees, nominating Roz Solomon in her place. In Muspelheim, Loki and Malekith are on their way to meet the Queen of Cinders and on Chandrilar, Quentin is the new god of the Shi'ar (Race) people. The Odinson is demanding to see his mother, but Jane tells him that Odin has been locked in for weeks with no one seeing either of them. She then tells Thor that she has something she needs to tell him, apparently about to reveal that she is the new Thor. But out in space, the full Phoenix is soaring away, revealing that it only gave Quentin a small portion of itself, and that it will have revenge on the gods, because the Mangog has been released.
