Synopsis for "The Black Winter"
Thor sends Mjolnir crashing throughout the Nine Realms to send a message, the war is over and will not be tolerated again. Returning to his hand, Sif reminds him that he is king now. He heads back to his throne, and sends Volstagg and the councilors away, only to have Loki appear to him. As Thor gets up to walk out, Loki notices that Thor seems to have trouble lifting his hammer. Heading out to the balcony, he is about to give his speech when a great shadow falls over him, as Galactus crashes to the ground. Thor, enraged, attacks him only to pause when he realizes that Galactus is gravely wounded and passes out with a warning. Weeks later, Thor has called the Heralds of Galactus to Asgard to brief him on what the Black Winter is. The Silver Surfer arrives and tells them all its history along with Galactus'. He reveals that he knows of five very special planets that will empower Galactus beyond all previous levels in order to fight it. Thor tells him that he and his army will accompany the Surfer to these planets in order to evacuate them before they are destroyed. Heading outside, Galactus reveals his true reason for coming to Asgard - to empower Thor with the Power Cosmic, making him his newest herald.
