Synopsis
The team is in Greenwich, England cleaning up after Malekith's attack[1]. In Norway, a pair of Paganists are following a map to a weapon and find the Berserker Staff. Petra welcome's its power, and kills a forest ranger. They begin to instigate riots in Oslo and the team is called in. SHIELD consults Elliot Randolph, a professor of Norse Mythology to gain insight into what the staff is. They begin searching for the other two pieces of the staff in various locations. When the team arrives at the church, Professor Randolph has already taken the 2nd piece. Ward is knocked out and the Paganists rob Randolph of the second piece. Ward has become "infected" with the rage that the Staff brings, and begins snapping at everyone else on the team. In custody, Professor Randolph is revealed to be an Asgardian, and the Berserker in the story. He tells the team the truth, and tells them that the final piece is in Ireland. They arrive and find the final piece, but the Paganists are right behind them. Ward picks up two of the pieces, which unlocks his darkest memories. When Petra arrives, May rips the third piece from her hand and beats the hell out of her. May then puts the Staff down willingly. After all the drama has calmed down, Ward joins May in her hotel room. Coulson has a flashback to Tahiti, but it turns into a nightmare when the masseuse uses the same phrase he keeps using, that it's a magical place.
